5 Minutes of Hope
Education & medical access in hard places

This Month’s Story

A Future in the Making

When Maceus was a young boy, he arrived at Darivarger with very little.

He didn’t have the support of a father.
His mother, caring for six other children, simply did not have the means to provide for him.

But what he did have… was a place to belong.

Raised under the care of Pastor Mongerard and Neemy, Maceus grew up surrounded by consistency, guidance, and people who believed in him. From an early age, they saw something special: a quiet discipline, a sharp mind, and a determination that set him apart.

Today, that same young boy is studying medicine at Lumière University in Haiti.

And he’s not just chasing a degree.

He carries a vision, to one day give back, to invest in others, and to become the kind of support he once needed.

For the past three years, Pastor Mongerard and Neemy have made it possible for Maceus to stay in school. But the cost, though modest by US standards continues to rise.

This year alone:

  • Tuition is $2,300 USD

  • Living Expenses $800 USD

  • Transportation, books, etc. $900 USD

Despite their unwavering commitment, the Mongerards have reached a point where they simply cannot carry this alone.

They didn’t come asking for everything.

They simply shared the need.

Because they believe, as we do, that investing in Maceus is investing in something much bigger.

A future doctor.
A future leader.
A life that will impact many others.

This is where you come in.

Hope in Action This Month

As Maceus and many others study in Haiti, hope continues to unfold in Ghana.

Our volunteers are gathering books, organizing donations, and preparing for our March 7 Book Drive Workday at the Hope House, where hundreds of books will be sorted, labeled, and packed for libraries launching later this year.

At the same time, our March team is on the ground in Ghana, strengthening long-standing partnerships in education. These visits are not about short-term projects, but about creating sustainable solutions.

Different countries.
Different stories.
One steady commitment: expanding access to education where it’s needed most.

A Moment of Hope

Pictured here are volunteers at a previous Book Drive Workday preparing materials for a library to be built in Ghana.  This July, our team will return to build a new school library and re-stock several previously completed libraries.

You can be a part of our mission!  Please consider purchasing an item from our Amazon Wishlist to support the July trip.

Be Part of the Story

Right now, the most urgent need is simple:

Keep Maceus in School.

Your support helps cover tuition, transportation, and the daily costs of pursuing a medical degree in Haiti.

When you invest in Maceus, you’re not just supporting one student — you’re investing in future patients, future families, and future communities.

With Gratitude

Thank you for believing in steady investment — the kind that walks alongside a child for years and refuses to give up.  We are grateful to serve together.

With appreciation,

Give Hope Global
