Spend a Week at Sowers Academy
Come ready to work. Come ready to laugh, learn, serve, and experience Ghana.
A GIVE HOPE IMPACT TRIP
Experience Sowers Academy
Come with us to Ghana in March 2027 and spend a week serving at Sowers Academy in Medie, a school that has become a beacon of hope for children and families in its community.
There's something special about spending an entire week at Sowers. You'll arrive on campus each morning and spend your days alongside students from nursery through 9th grade. You'll step into their classrooms, create with them, play with them, learn from them, and before the week is over, you'll know their names, they'll know yours, and saying goodbye will probably be harder than you expect.
Sowers Academy is a Christian school that has been serving the Medie community for more than 20 years, giving children the opportunity to receive a quality, affordable education. Give Hope has had the privilege of walking alongside Sowers for many years, and this trip gives you the chance to see firsthand what that school means to its students and community.

Serve Where You're Needed
YOUR WEEK AT SOWERS
No two days at Sowers look exactly the same. Our team works alongside the school's teachers and staff, jumping into the places where an extra set of hands, a new idea, or a little encouragement can make a difference.
CLASSROOMS & LEARNING
Support teachers and students through reading, math, STEM activities, small groups, and hands-on learning.
Bring creativity into the school day through art projects and activities designed for different grade levels.
ART & CREATIVITY
Get outside with students for games, sports, and a school-wide field day that's always a team favorite.
SPORTS & FIELD DAY
Pitch in wherever needed with projects that may include painting, repairs, building, or other hands-on work around campus.

A Few Things to Know
Before You Go
-
A valid passport is required for travel to Ghana. Each participant is responsible for obtaining and maintaining a passport that meets Ghana's entry requirements, including being valid for at least six months beyond the date of travel. Give Hope will provide guidance and reminders along the way, but all passport applications, renewals, fees, and related requirements are the responsibility of the traveler.
-
Each participant is responsible for obtaining a valid Ghana visitor visa before departure. Give Hope will provide instructions, guidance, and important deadlines to help you through the visa application process, but completing the application, providing all required documentation, paying applicable fees, and obtaining the visa are ultimately the responsibility of the traveler.
-
Each participant is responsible for obtaining the required Yellow Fever vaccination and carrying the appropriate proof of vaccination for travel to Ghana. Give Hope will provide information and reminders about this requirement, but scheduling the vaccination, paying any associated costs, and obtaining and traveling with the required documentation are the responsibility of the traveler.
-
International travel may include long travel days, hot weather, walking on uneven terrain, unfamiliar foods and water, exposure to illness, and limited access to medical care. Participants should consider their individual health needs and consult with their physician before traveling when appropriate.
-
Ghana is known for its warm hospitality and is a destination Give Hope teams have traveled to for many years. Our team works closely with trusted in-country partners throughout the trip, and participant safety is a priority in our planning and decision-making. As with any international travel, conditions can change, and Give Hope will communicate important travel or safety information with participants before and during the trip.
