The People Who Become Family.
One of the greatest gifts of Give Hope Global isn't found in the libraries we've built, the clinics we've equipped, or the classrooms we've filled.
It's the people.
Over the years, volunteers, students, pastors, sponsors, and friends have become much more than names connected to a mission. They have become part of the Give Hope family. They have served alongside us, prayed with us, celebrated milestones with us, and left fingerprints on this ministry that will never fade.
In recent months, our Give Hope family has experienced the loss of three people whose lives touched this ministry in different ways. While each story is unique, they shared something in common—they loved people well.
Today, we pause to remember Heather Purser Williams, Jane Baron Steele, and Jadnel with grateful hearts, celebrating the lives they lived and the hope they leave behind.
Heather Purser Williams
Heather traveled to Haiti with Give Hope in 2017, but it wasn't the miles she traveled that defined her. It was the way she loved people.
Whether serving children in Haiti or caring for patients as an emergency room nurse, Heather lived a life marked by compassion, humility, and unwavering faith. Even through her own battle with cancer, she continued encouraging others and boldly pointing people toward Christ.
She leaves behind her husband, Josh, their daughter, Indy, and a legacy of selfless love that continues to inspire everyone who knew her.
Jane Baron Steele
Jane joined Give Hope on a mission trip to Haiti in 2021, bringing with her the same faith, kindness, and servant's heart that defined every area of her life. For years, she had watched her daughter, Emily Steele Scott, faithfully serve as a volunteer and trip coordinator with Give Hope. When Jane finally experienced Haiti for herself, the mission became deeply personal.
She developed a special passion for helping Dr. Esaie complete medical school, believing in the vision of seeing him return to serve his own community in Haiti. Jane remained invested in that dream long after returning home.
A three-time breast cancer survivor, Jane courageously encouraged others walking similar journeys while faithfully serving her church, loving her family, and sharing Christ through both her words and her actions.
Just days after Jane's passing, her family received an unexpected gift of hope. After years of praying and waiting, Emily learned she was expecting a baby girl. This December, their family will welcome a precious new life. A beautiful reminder that even in seasons of grief, God continues to write stories of hope.
Jadnel Lubin
Jadnel's story was woven into the story of Give Hope from an early age.
He grew up at Cambry Children's Home in Haiti and later lived in the Young Men's Transition Home, where he continued receiving the support, education, and encouragement that helped shape his future.
Although his life ended far too soon following an accident in Les Cayes, Jadnel will always remain part of the Give Hope family. We are grateful to have walked alongside him through many seasons of his life and continue praying for his brother, Johnny Lubin, and all who loved him.
A Legacy That lives on
Mission trips eventually come to an end. Buildings age. Programs evolve.
But kindness, compassion, faithful service, and relationships continue long after we are gone.
Heather, Jane, and Jadnel each became part of the Give Hope story in different ways, yet each leaves behind the same enduring reminder: a life lived in love leaves a legacy that reaches far beyond our time here.
